TBILISI STATE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY
The Tbilisi State Medical Institute was established in 1921. This institute got the autonomous status of University in 1992 and became Tbilisi State Medical University. TSMU is Georgia's leading educational establishment and the center of highest medical education.
Currently there are almost 1100 staff, with 700 professors and 150 Doctors of Science, nearly 5000 undergraduate and 200 postgraduate students at the University of whom 10% come from foreign countries which are from the different oversea countries like USA, Canada, Japan, India, Shri-Lanka,Trinidad and Tobago, Pakistan, Nepal and Turkey.
TSMU is included in the ECTS [European Union Credit Transfer System]. Through this system a student can change his/her university to any university across European Union at any point of time, provided that university must be a part of the ECTS.
Since 1993 on the basis of the agreement concluded with The USA Emory University, the Kaplan English Library has been functioning as well and is widely applied by the TSMU students, postgraduate students and residents to pass USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination ) examination.Through USMLE examination candidate can WORK & STUDY IN UNITED STATES.
